A Picture called Death

By Biggy Bigz • Mar 31st, 2008 • Category: Features

March 24, 2008. La Roose, Port Henderson.

I was on the balcony of La Roose when an uninvited guest named Death arrived at the British Linkup Dance on Port Henderson road in Kingston.

I’m glad I was on the balcony.

  4. Images of fear, mayhem, violence, and death are ubiquitous in Jamaica. The social landscape including parties, dance hall sessions etc. is strewn with killings and wanton violence.Hopefully, this pathology of nihilism will abate and Jamaicans can once again enjoy themselves socially, without the spectre of and killings and gratuitous violence being a constant. Nonetheless, powerful images by Mr. Marlon Reid.Interestingly, black and white also conveys and present a striking journalistic reality.RESPECT !!
