The big hotels shooting up in Jamaica tend to be an eyesore, employing neither local architects or environmental sensitivity. Thankfully there are exceptions: Rockhuse hotel in Negril by Kingston architects Cornerstone.Design and Australian Jean-Henri Morin, is one of them.
Located on the rocks of Negril, it’s almost as pretty, but much cheaper than the more established Negril Caves, part of Chris Blackwell’s boutique Island Outpost chain – also rated for their sensitivity to their Jamaican surroundings.
Accommodation at Rockhouse means cliff-top bungalows – the best way to vacation here, think Jakes, Frenchman’s etc – and the Caribbean Sea.
